About Great Earth Vitamins at Meadowmont
The first Great Earth Vitamin Store opened in 1971, and the first franchise store was opened 7 years later. One of our founders, Earl Mindell, is a world-renowned authority on nutrition and the author of the book The Vitamin Bible. Great Earth was dedicated to keeping up with the latest in nutritional research by maintaining an association of biochemists, nutritionists, and pharmacists. We share that nutritional information with our customers and community, focusing on prevention and recovery.
The economy of 2008 & 2009 has forced many businesses to fail, and Great Earth Vitamins ceased operations February 2009. But not to worry, several of the Great Earth stores have united under the leadership of Bernard, one of the Great Earth storeowners in california, who has developed a high quality replacement line of nutritional supplements under the labels / brand names of VIVA and Earth Wise. Much like the legend of the Phoenix, out of the ashes VIVA and Earth Wise arise with new products and new life for the Great Earth Vitamin Stores. Most of the Great Earth products will be reintroduced under the new VIVA and Earth Wise labels. For over five years we have worked hard to develop our Great Earth Vitamins at Meadowmont, so for now I don't think we will be changing the name. We have always carried other brands of nutritional supplements, so we're just adding two new lines: VIVA and Earth Wise. All of us became Great Earth storeowners because of our knowledge and demand for product quality. That legacy will continue with the VIVA and Earth Wise brands.
VIVA and Earth Wise manufacturing is not subcontracted to the lowest bidder in some foreign country. VIVA / Earth Wise is one of the few dietary supplement companies that requires their products be manufactured in only cGMP compliant facilities. cGMP (current Good Manufacturing Practice) is a term that is recognized worldwide for the control and management of manufacturing and quality control testing of foods, pharmaceutical products, and medical devices. cGMP takes the holistic approach of regulating the manufacturing and laboratory testing environment itself.. With the manufacture of nutritional supplements, an extremely important part of cGMP is documentation of every aspect of the process, activities, and operations. Additionally, cGMP requires that all manufacturing and testing equipment has been qualified as suitable for use, and that all operational methodologies and procedures (such as manufacturing, cleaning, and analytical testing) utilized in the drug and nutritional supplement manufacturing process have been validated (according to predetermined specifications), to demonstrate that they can perform their purported function(s).
